What she shares on this episode
We are by virtue of being human fearful about being left out of the tribe. We are afraid that if we are truly ourselves we might not be accepted. The key to overcoming this fear is to refocus your mind. When you have an intellectual understanding of what fear is you can witness it rather than react to it and every time you do it your conscious awareness of it increases. It never goes away but you are able to process it better.
You need to find practices that build your consciousness rather than self-consciousness. The more you can develop a sense of not being only yourself you realise that you are a part of something greater and really acknowledge your spirit that is driving you to express your art. Yoga and meditation, gets you in touch with the greater force in you. It releases yourself from being the one responsible for delivering something. It’s a different way of being on stage and you start to become real.
The audience wants your eyes, your honesty and you being true to whatever is going on for you at the moment. The more you get to know yourself, the more you can be yourself and that is what the audience wants. It boils down to overcoming the fear of not being good enough and when you are not true to yourself people can sense it.
